Entrepreneurial ecosystems are the answer

Entrepreneurship is on everyone’s lips. Everyone wants to be one, everyone wants to help them.

But do we really know what entrepreneurs need?

In December 2016, the 2016 Entrepreneurship Research Study: Voices of Entrepreneurs in Johannesburg. was independently published by Z.A.ZEN Consulting (Pty) Ltd.

It was the first study made by entrepreneurs, listening to the voices of Joburg entrepreneurs in order to discover what entrepreneurs need to succeed.

The results were surprising and the City of Johannesburg took note. One of the key findings – the importance of entrepreneurial ecosystems – featured in the City’s 2021 Strategic Economic Development strategy.

The City seeks to build a new role for government to create environments that assist entrepreneurs by bringing together partners to support and collaborate with them.

On 23 and 24 October 2017 the City of Johannesburg will host the first-ever African Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Symposium at the Mandela Theatre in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.

Leading up to this event will be summits held in the City’s regions as follows:
